I saw this post over at Rachael's blog and really liked the idea of it.
I think possibly everyone faults their own looks every now and then, or even all the time, so this is a nice post to do to embrace the faults and try and see the positives of those things and things you do like as well :)
What you have to do:
1. Post a photo that you like of yourself and say in a couple of sentences why you like it.
2. State 3 things that you DON'T like yourself but say why others may love to be like that.
3. State 3 things that you DO like about yourself.
A photo of myself that I like.
I actually had a bit of trouble picking a photo, because I find there are things I can fault about myself on every photo. Like on this photo my arm looks a tad chubby and my mum chopped the top of my head off, ha! But I do like this photo on the whole because I had just had my front teeth done which were discoloured, and I always used to smile covering part of my teeth. But this was the first photo where I could smile 'normally'. It's not a perfect smile and my teeth still aren't perfect, but I look quite pleased with the results, so yay! Also my eyes are normally quite squinty and small but on this they look quite big. And the best thing about this photo, it was Christmas!
Things I don't like about myself that others may like.
1. I don't really like that I am a tad chunky in practically every area of my body. I always have been. From around the age of about 8 I noticed I was a little chubbier than most in my class. I had the nickname 'thunder-thighs' when I was little (not in like a bullying way though). My legs are always going from a size 12 back to a size 10, back to a 12 again, rather annoying. I was also called J-Lo when I was younger because my bum is ENORMOUS. Well, since Kim K came into the celeb world, my bum feels a bit small now. & my belly sticks out. But people may like this chunkiness because curves can be seen as a good thing, don't get me wrong, I don't not like curves, I think they're great, but I wish mine would kind of, be a bit less curvy!
2. I hate how small I am. I am 4ft11. I am yet to find the perfect pair of jeans, all are too long and never look nice when taken up. Even petite clothing is too long, it actually feels like it's for tall people. Being really small also makes me look really young, but everyone says I have a baby face as well, so that probably doesn't help either! It makes me feel quite uncomfortable as well, I don't know why, it's hard to explain, it makes me feel a bit vulnerable. & I feel stupid sometimes about how I might look when I'm older, like most mum's are like quite tall, and if I have kids, they will probably be taller than me when they're like 11, that will be a bit upsetting :( ha! Also now, in some shops, AHEM, Hollister, I can probably rest my chin on the counter they're so high up. Hmphhh (maybe I exaggerated there). People may want to be my height if they like to play Limbo and do not like losing.
3. I don't like my hair. It can be really limp and SO dry. So so so dry. Split ends happen for no reason, I use no heat and brush it twice a day and my split ends are AWFUL. Whyyyyyy. :( & it will not grow, it refuses. People will like my hair if they have very curly hair and want straighter hair.
Things I do like about myself.
1. I quite like my lips. I'm not so sure why, but I went for my makeup done last year and the makeup woman said I had really nice lips (I know it's part of their job to compliment but shh) so since then I've kind of seen them as quite a good aspect, so that might be the reason. And they aren't terribly dry, which is a bonus.
2. I like my waist, it's always been quite small and contrasts with my rather larger hips (which do need toning but I know that will never happen) so it shows curves:)
3. I like that my arms are double jointed! I know this is weird, and it looks gross, I agree it looks awful but it's just sooo cool freaking people out. & it shows my weird side.

I really think everyone should do this post if you have issues about how you look or whatever, even when going through the things I don't like, I kind of realised "oh just get over it, there's nothing even wrong with it", so this post kind of made me feel good about myself :)
You can find the original post over here on Amy's blog, so if you do do this post, then link it on the original post :) & please do link it below I would love to read it :)
Hope you are all well!

Great post! I love the picture, you look fab! It's great you can talk about the things you like and dislike about yourself! xx
ReplyDeleteHa ha! You're adorable! I love this post.
ReplyDeleteLet me tell you RIGHT NOW that you are not in the slightest bit chubby. No way. And you're pretty as a picture. You are lucky to be petite. I'm neither tall nor small and I think it would be nice to be one or the other.
Your post did make me laugh, especially the bit about limbo dancers liking to be your height. Ha!

This is so fun! If I get the time I will so do it.
ReplyDeleteFirst things first, I see why you like the first pic, you look great and you are NOT chunky. That's so interesting to learn that you're only 4'11". You can't tell in pictures. I can see why that'd be frustrating though. My arms are double jointed too. I used to turn them around all funny and freak people the fuck out. They're like, "Oh my god, is your arm broken?!" It's awesome.
This is cute :) And I like that you didn't completely rip yourself apart like most girls would! (Not that you have any reason to) You kept it real. I'm double jointed too! Always a great party trick :)

This post is such a good idea, I may just need to do this (maybe after exams when I'm not so sleep deprived though) and Jazz you are Beautiful!
